Yes, it’s a very Drake-heavy week, and for those that picked up the new PoP even more so. Nolan North, the voice actor behind Nathan Drake is in fact the voice for the new Prince as well. Ben Mattes has declared the move “entirely intentional”, saying that the decision was based on the desire to portray the Prince as a Hans Solo/Indiana Jones type of guy. I believe him, the move was no accident – I do not believe it was a great idea, and I am in complete disbelief that nobody on their team piped up with, “Hey, guys, let’s maybe not do that…please?”
By no means do I begrudge North the work, though I wonder if they asked him to play the part so very close to Drake. Really, it’s just another voice-acting gaff in the same league as overuse of celebrity voices and will only serve to take those familiar with Uncharted out of PoP, which is just plain unfortunate.
