Today Apple hosted MacBook extravaganza ’08, with the sugary sweet revelation that not only are there pretty new MacBooks to covet, they are shipping today and will hit stores tomorrow!  (And, since Stevie is Apple, he shared that his blood pressure is 110/70)

The new MacBooks are carved from solid pieces of aluminum, so there was mcuh ado about their increased strenght.  Pros will be available in two models:$1999 with a 15.4-inch LED back-lit display, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3MB L2 Cache, 2GB 1066MHz DDR3 Memory, the two GeForces, 250GB hard drive and SuperDrive.  The second is at $2499 with 2.53GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 4GB memory, 512MB video memory and bigger hard drive.  For the greenies, the new Pro has snagged the EPEAT Gold rating.

As I’m in the market for a plain ol’ Mac Book I was a bit more edge of my seat on their pricing, as I’d heard rumors of a significant price-drop.  While not out of reach, no fire sale here. Available in two models the first is at $1299 with a 13.3-inch LED backlit display, 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3MB L2 Cache, 2GB 1066MHz DDR3 memory, 9400M GeForce, 160GB hard drive and SuperDrive.  The second model, $1599, adds 2.4GHz processor, 250GB hard drive and a back-lit keyboard.

The new MacBook Airs will be available in early November.  The new Air will have an upgraded 120GB HDD or 128GB SSD and a Mini Display port.  Apple is putting the 9400M into them with 4x faster graphics.

A 24″ LED-back-lit cinema display was announced for $899, to be available in November.  It has 1920×1200 res, built-in iSight, mic, stereo speakers, three port USB hub.

The Apple Store is exploding and I am bursting at the seems to get my new laptop.  Hope Santa is reading…
